Sedation

Nitrous Oxide

Better known as “laughing gas”, the intention of this safe and mild gas is to make your child care less about the procedure being completed. He or she will be fully awake and responsive to us during the treatment.

Oral Sedation

For Children who have a greater level of anxiety surrounding the dentist and dental/medical procedures, oral sedation may be appropriate. During this type of appointment your child will drink a little medication and become groggy or sleepy. Once the medication kicks in, Dr. S will complete as much treatment as he can before the effect wears off.

Anesthesia

This option is for children who it is not possible to complete dental work while awake. An anesthesiologist will provide the necessary drugs and equipment to ensure your child can be treated safely. Under anesthesia, all required dental treatment will be completed in a single visit. This appointment could take place at Scarborough Surgical Center or Children’s Dentistry of Maine.
